What Causes A Pool To Turn Green?

“Green pool” is a term usually used to describe a pool or spa where the water has been affected by algae growth. Pool water may also appear green as a result of rust, leaves or pollen in the pool, although this is less common.  Algae blooms in pools are often caused by an imbalance in your water's chemical.  Usually, this is due to insufficient chlorine.

Your pool may have insufficient chlorine because you haven’t been regularly adding chlorine to the water. Or, it may have insufficient chlorine due to recent heavy or unusual use.
